Window Energy Ratings

The Window Energy Rating (WER) labelling scheme was launched in the UK by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC), a Government-supported independent body. By using information contained on the label, consumers can reliably compare one product with another and make informed decisions regarding the energy performance of a window.

The A (best) to G (worst) rating system is similar to the labelling already used on white goods. The label gives a rating based on the performance of the whole window (frame and glass) and therefore allows fair comparison of one window with another. SGG EcoClear® enables windows to achieve a C WER as a minimum, with the higher ratings easily achievable.

Energy Saving Trust

The Energy Saving Recommended logo has been developed by the Energy Saving Trust to distinguish the most energy efficient products on the market.

The Energy Saving Trust is an independent, non-profit making organisation backed by the Government. Its aim is to cut emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main greenhouse gas causing climate change, by promoting the sustainable and efficient use of energy.

Windows with a C rating or higher are eligible to be endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust and to use the Energy Saving Recommended logo (subject to approval).

High performance double glazing products such as SGG EcoClear® are recognised as being an essential component in improving the energy efficiency of windows and can help windows qualify for Energy Saving Recommended status.
